The responsible thing to do is still to get a certification that will allow to train people legally. Although you may have the skills required for the job, you can not get liabililiy insurance without certification, and it is irresponsible to train w/o insurance.
    good luck to you though!

Unfortunately, no! You do not have to be certified! The positive, is that many people are starting to realize this and ask the appropriate questions to people they may hire as a “trainer.” Most responsible clients will only train with someone who has a degree in exercise and sport science and a legitimate certification!
