Okay, I have always been obsessed with fitness and nutrition also. You have to listen to your body. Start seeing how certain foods make you feel after you eat them. If you eat something that isn’t good for your, ex: high in sugar or bad fats, you’ll see that they usually leave you feeling tired, bloated and uncomfortable afterwards. On the other hand, if you eat a nutritious meal of fresh vegables, whole grains, good protein and good fats, you feel energized and satisfied. The junk foods are made so you always feel unsatisfied and start looking for more to eat a little while after you are finished eating them. Pay attention to your body and the way you feel when you ear certain foods. Keep exercising, cardio and resistance training, and you will be fine. Try and focus on how good you feel when you take care of yourself with the proper fuel and if you want that certain “junk food” once in a while, enjoy it. Don’t deprive yourself, there are plenty of healhty options to most of the ” bad foods out there. I have always struggled with food, 24/7 like you, but I have learned to listen to my body, rather than just splurging on what looks good at the moment.

Work on eating a well-balanced diet, but don’t count calories. If you eat a well balanced diet and exercise regulary, you shouldn’t need to worry about how many calories you are eating. Its ok to have an occasional “bad food” as long as you you keep it in moderation and continue to incorporate both cardio exercise and strength training into your workouts.

Believe me…I understand. However, I have been changing my relationship with food. Food is not my friend. Food is not my love. Food is not recreation. Food is not entertainment. Food is not a hug. FOOD IS FUEL. Is what I’m eating for THIS reason? If not I need to replace the food for what I’m really looking for…Call a friend. Rest or meditate. Take a bath (or a face cloth rub…ask Noelle). Read a book or go for a walk. Being honest with your question on a daily basis. One day at a time…sometimes one moment at a time. Peace.

You should always be mindful of what you put in your body (read labels, etc), but anything taken too far can become an unhealthy obsession. You have to learn that sometimes it is OK to let go. Later on you can get back on track.
