Nutrition Education In 1st Grade Curriculum?

I personally don’t agree with teaching kids about reading food lables, teaching them exercise or scaring them about becoming “fat”. When I was in elementary school, we learned about the food pyrimid and had P.E. which just consisted of playing and running laps (essentially, we were engaging in exercise) but we didn’t KNOW that was excercise. We just thought we were playing.
Now, I’ve read a curriculum that teaches kids that they have to play for ‘exercise’ and that they have to learn how to read food lables to not get ‘fat’…these words should not mean anything to 1st graders! Instead, why not just offer encouragement like they did when I was little? The salad bar was cheapest, the other food was 50 cents more expensive and desert for was a little more expensive…I didn’t associate anything with making me fat, but I did know that if I wanted to eat desert I would only be able to afford the salad as a meal…so this was a good way to encourage a balanced diet without making it an actual thought process. And because I was eating salads for lunch all the time, I really got into salads and would prefer to eat them when I would go to the food court with my parents, etc. I didn’t realize that salads were healthy! And exercise was what my parents did at the gym…I played! I didn’t feel like I “had to play” to not get fat..I just did it because it was fun. And we had a lot of play time at school too that encouraged competitve sports, etc, so we would really exert ourselves without realizing it.
I understand that some parents may not encourage healthy eating, etc, with their kids, but regardless, my future kids should not have to learn about ‘not getting fat’…i could see why so many kids now are developing eating disorders! geez! 10 year olds should not be turning anaorexic for the fear of getting fat!
Any one else feel like this? or am i just over reacting?

Pursuing A Career In Physical Education?

I have recently graduated with a degree in Music Industry, however do not wish to pursue a career in the music business.
I’ve been interested in sport, nutrition, and working with children and would love to get certification to teach Physical Education on any level.
I’ve been doing research, but have been having trouble coming across information if it’s possible to do what I would like to do.
Has anyone gone through this or know anyone that has? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Fitness Nutrition And Weight Loss

iwGvb0 Fitness Nutrition And Weight Loss

Sometimes where our body needs some kind of a nutrient, it expresses this in the form of hunger. Especially with overweight people, they tend to overeat because of a feeling of hunger, it may be that their diet is deficient in some essential nutrient like vitamins, proteins or minerals. And in most cases this worsens the situation where an overweight person decreases the food intake which ends up with even more deficiencies and more appetite.

Sports Nutrition Proteins

A good nutrition is as important for a sport as the training itself. Every sport requires the body to be trained in a special way with respect to exercises and diet. Some sports require endurance and stamina where some require muscle power so the need for the nutrients changes according to the goals of a sports person. With the increase in competition, every millisecond counts, so there has to be an extra edge over the others for good performance, which can be in the form of training and practice which also includes a good diet.

Vegetarian Sports Nutrition

For sports persons, a good planned nutrition is an important part of any training. It could be any sport only practice and techniques will not give that extra power to perform the best. Every aspect has to be well planned. If you are a vegetarian and follow a vegetarian diet then your choices of foods and supplements get limited considerably as a lot of nutrients are easily derived from animal products such as meat, fish and poultry. They are a good source of proteins.
