The Chemistry of Food and Nutrition (Kindle Edition)

The Chemistry of Food and Nutrition

The first edition of 1884 contained but 5 pages of type; the second of 1898, 14 pages. Only by conciseness has it been possible to give even a summary of the principles of dietetics within the limit or this pamphlet. Should there appear in places an abruptness or incompleteness of treatment, these limitations must be my excuse.

Nutrionists Food Advice Please.?

Hi all
I need some advice for the nutrition of a promising young sports star. My son who is 11 has just been signed for a pro soccer club. When I attended a training session with him last week the parents of the other kids were talking about nutrition diets gym etc etc To my amazement I thought it all seemed a bit extreme, they were talking about protein shakes and leg extensions etc etc. Im my own opinion I thought this was a little much for 11 year old kids. I am concerned for the actual physical developement of my son , ie I dont want to start banging protein shakes and creatine etc etc down his neck. Also doesnt gym training damage kids muscle developement. Any advice I want him to do well and make the best of him self but at the same time I want him to be healthy and develope well. The other parents seem to be very obssessive .

Raw Food Diet?

Does anyone have experience with this diet.
I am considering it but have my reservations. I am active at work all day and also play sports two days a week and am wondering if I could keep up this lifestyle on the raw food diet.
The people I have met on this diet look healthy but are not very athletic or active so I can not really trust their advice.
I’m looking for personal experiences of active people who have tried or practice this diet.

Food Nutrition Database?

Unsure whether this should go in the food or sports section.
I am starting back at the gym again, in my never ending search to put on a bit of weight. Although my fitness has never been bad, I have been eating to many carbs etc, and not enough protein. I am trying to do out a diet plan for myself, and need more information.
Is there a table or list of the nutritional values of foods available anywhere?
I can’t find anything online, only ‘calorie counters’ for weight loss programs that only seem to mention fat. I am interested in carbs, protein, fibre, fats sat. and unsat. etc.
Thanks for your help.
