Competitive athletes, sedentary individuals and people who exercise for health and fitness all need the same nutrients. However, because of the intensity of their sport or training program, some athletes have higher calorie and fluid requirements. Eating a variety of foods to meet increased calorie needs helps to ensure that the athlete’s diet contains appropriate amounts of carbohydrate, protein, vitamins and minerals.

well, if you want to diet, try the best and simplest diet, follow the food pyramid. drink a lot of water, eat a lot of vegetables and fruit, at least 3 dairy products, about 5-6 breads/cereal/grain products daily, get plenty of sleep, stay away from a lot of sugars and oils, limit sodas to about 1 or 2 a day, and continue to exercise as you do now. but if not in sports, try to exercise at least 30-45 minutes a week. you know don’t do any crash dieting, just eat healthier and excercise. hope that helps. take care, and many blessings!
